Kristin Tessmar-Raible leads the research group for chronobiology at the University of Vienna, Austria, where she investigates the molecular and cellular mechanisms of moon-controlled non-circadian oscillator and rhythms, their interplay with circadian clocks, and non-visual effects of light.

She is also senior scientist at the Alfred Wegener Institute, Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research and a professor at the University of Oldenburg, Germany where she seeks to stronger interconnect her molecular lab work on marine animals with ecological relevant parameters and concepts. In turn, she aims to raise awareness for the relevance of chronobiology in marine ecology and ecological predictions in the context of climate change.
