PhD and Postdoctoral Opportunities in Circadian Medicine – TRR 418 at the Charité Laboratory of Chronobiology
Are you ready to explore one of the most exciting frontiers in biomedical research? TRR 418 – Foundations of Circadian Medicine is looking for PhD students and postdoctoral researchers who are eager to push boundaries and help pioneer a new era of circadian clock-based diagnostics and therapy. In TRR 418, leading scientists from Berlin, Lübeck, Munich, and Potsdam join forces to uncover how the body’s internal clock – the circadian rhythm – influences health, disease, and treatment. Circadian disruption plays a key role in many conditions, from infections and immune dysfunction to to psychiatric and metabolic disorders. Our goal: to understand these mechanisms and develop clock-based diagnostics and therapies for clinical use.

PhD Opportunity: Biological Rhythms and Light Impact on Deep-Sea Mussels
This PhD project explores how the deep-sea vent mussel Bathymodiolus azoricus synchronizes its biological rhythms with tidal cycles and how artificial light—introduced through human activities such as deep-sea exploration—may disrupt these natural patterns. The candidate will study behavior and gene expression both in situ and under laboratory conditions, aiming to understand light perception and its ecological impact on individual organisms and the broader vent community.

Professorship (W3) in Animal Physiology (m/f/d) The Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Kassel is looking for an outstanding scientist with excellent qualifications in the field of animal physiology. The candidate has a strong research profile in a current research area of animal physiology (e.g. neurobiology, behavior, metabolism, endocrinology). The focus is on invertebrates, but not exclusively on Drosophila. The scientific work combines contemporary methods of animal physiology (e.g. behavioral studies, electrophysiology, bioimaging, omics techniques).
